The National Media Office (NMO) has emphasized the significance of UAE social media users respecting national values and the principles of tolerance, respect, and cohabitation. In a formal statement, the office emphasized the need to follow the law and ethical guidelines when using digital platforms and the ban on anything that denigrates or misrepresents public personalities, friendly nations, or their civilizations.
The statement said that in accordance with the nation’s laws intended to provide a secure and balanced digital environment that promotes respect for one another, the office, working with the appropriate authorities, will take legal action against individuals who disregard these guidelines.
The statement also warned that disseminating hate speech, false information, or defamation—whether explicitly, indirectly, or implicitly—violates the law and carries severe penalties.
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan reminded residents that they are ambassadors of the United Arab Emirates, and the office reaffirmed that everyone bears some responsibility for maintaining the UAE’s reputation.
Every action you take, positive or negative, reflects your Emirati identity,” he said, encouraging students to use their education, upbringing, and sense of national identity to enhance the UAE’s positive image. Since we are a steward of this nation’s honor and standing, we are all accountable for determining its reputation.
