Since the start of Ramadan, the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development’s (ADDED) business sector regulatory arm, the Abu Dhabi Registration and Licensing Authority (ADRA), has conducted 965 field inspections to examine commercial businesses around Abu Dhabi.

The inspections are intended to ensure that rules are followed, such as maintaining advertising prices for goods and products and avoiding unwarranted price hikes during special occasions and certain seasons.

In order to confirm that retail establishments were adhering to advertised prices and promotional offers, the Emirates News Agency (WAM) joined ADRA’s inspection team on a field visit to an Abu Dhabi shopping center on Thursday.

The Acting Director-General of ADRA, Mohammed Munif Al Mansouri, said the agency keeps an eye on the implementation of laws, rules, and consumer protection policies all year long, stepping up its efforts during periods of high consumption, especially Ramadan.

Noting that 23 enforcement measures have been launched against violating business establishments thus far, he noted that ADRA has created and implemented a thorough plan to guarantee a safe consumer environment and stop any harmful practices throughout the holy month.

“The plan includes field inspection visits to verify adherence to established requirements and to ensure compliance with pricing regulations and promotional offers announced by traders and major retail outlets,” Al Mansoori explained.
