Kaja Kallas, Vice-President of the European Commission and High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, received Sheikh Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. During the meeting, the two sides talked about how to improve cooperation between the UAE and the EU and its member states as well as how to strengthen joint action in a way that supports the growth of a positive and constructive UAE-EU strategic partnership that supports both sides’ strategic priorities.

Kallas’ visit was greeted by Sheikh Abdullah, who affirmed the UAE’s expanding and changing ties with the EU and its member states. The two sides also discussed regional events, such as the fallout from Iran’s terrorist and unjustified missile attacks against the United Arab Emirates and several friendly and sister nations. Sheikh Abdullah affirmed the safety of all citizens and guests in the UAE and thanked Kallas for her unwavering support.

Following US President Donald Trump’s proclamation of a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran, Sheikh Abdullah and Kallas also discussed regional issues. In order to achieve lasting peace in the region, the summit also discussed the significance of strengthening international collaboration and stepping up regional and international efforts. Saeed Mubarak Al Hajeri, Minister of State, and Mohamed Al Sahlawi, UAE Ambassador to Belgium, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, and the European Union, were present at the meeting.
