His Highness The Supreme Council member and ruler of Sharjah, Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, has legally accepted the emirate’s general budget, which includes expenditures totaling over Dhs44.5 billion.
This budget is intended to provide social welfare for all emirate citizens, improve cultural, scientific, and economic prosperity, and promote financial sustainability. Along with the sustainability of food, water, and energy resources, it also highlights the significance of guaranteeing social safety and security.
The budget also seeks to increase government agencies’ ability to fund important projects and initiatives. It aims to build a tourism infrastructure that promotes social, recreational, and cultural tourism as well as to offer suitable housing options for a variety of Sharjah residents.
The 2026 budget is organized around several financial and strategic pillars, including initiatives to develop and strengthen the social, cultural, health, tourism, and infrastructure sectors. The goal is to attain metrics that are comparable to those of industrialized countries so that every emirate citizen can profit from economic development.
The two main goals of the general budget for 2026 are economic competitiveness and financial sustainability. It also emphasizes meeting employment-related needs, addressing social needs, and strengthening the government’s capacity to build and improve the emirate’s infrastructure.
