The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has finished building 40 air-conditioned rest spaces for delivery riders in strategic emirate locations. The program is a component of RTA’s endeavours to improve road safety, raise people’s standard of living, and give delivery riders comfort and necessary services while they wait for fresh orders. Additionally, it seeks to promote adherence to traffic laws and regulations and lower the likelihood of traffic accidents.
The installation of these rest places demonstrates RTA’s dedication to giving delivery riders a secure and comfortable environment, especially in light of the industry’s explosive growth in recent years, said Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.
There were 2,535 motorcycle delivery businesses in Dubai at the end of June, and there were 46,600 delivery bikes in total. In addition to promoting road safety for all users, this program supports Dubai’s Traffic Safety Strategy, which aims for “Zero Fatalities,” establishing the emirate as a world leader in traffic safety.
“The rest areas were designed to minimise sun exposure while guaranteeing efficient insulation without obstructing visibility,” Al Tayer continued. In addition to specific motorcycle parking spaces next to the rest areas, each facility has an air-conditioned seating area that can accommodate up to 10 motorcyclists, depending on the location.
