Real estate is among the safest long-term investments, according to Emirati billionaire Khalaf Al Habtoor, who advised investors to concentrate on markets they are familiar with. Al Habtoor stated in a video posted on X that investing involves more than just financial gains; it also involves familiarity with the nation and trust in its surroundings. He recalled the early advice he had from the late Emirati billionaire Mohammed Saeed Al Mulla, a former minister and founding member of Etisalat by e&, to steer clear of investing in unknown or difficult-to-access locations.

Al Mulla used to advise Al Habtoor, “Do not invest in a place you do not know, cannot reach, or do not feel at ease in.” He said that investing necessitates “understanding, trust, and knowledge of the place.” Al Mulla, a well-known businessman and close friend of Al Habtoor, died in 2023 at the age of 97. Al Habtoor claimed that this strategy influenced his preference for real estate, which he defined as a stable and tangible asset. “One of the most significant and reliable investments is real estate,” he declared. “A strong foundation that you can see and touch, benefit from today, and leave for you, your kids, and your grandkids.”

He continued by saying that land is still a long-term store of value that can be passed down through the generations, in contrast to more erratic financial products. “Investing in something you observe and emulate” Al Habtoor also emphasized the value of investing in directly manageable and monitorable assets, pointing out that tangible assets offer a degree of control that financial instruments would not. “True investing is ultimately in the thing you understand,” he stated. “something you can see and follow on your own.” His remarks coincide with investors’ growing interest in solid, income-producing assets as they continue to assess opportunities in international markets.
