His Excellency Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the president of the Republic of the Philippines, was welcomed by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Tuesday while he was on a business trip in the United Arab Emirates.

His Highness stated his expectation that the visit would begin a new and important chapter in the evolution of the two countries’ ties as they met at Qasr Al Shati in Abu Dhabi.

The two leaders discussed how to work together and build stronger relationships, especially in economics, commerce, investment, and development, as well as other important areas that align with both nations’ interests and common development goals. They also discussed various topics of mutual interest and exchanged opinions from both sides.

He emphasized that this year is the 50th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations being established and reaffirmed their mutual commitment to developing these relationships further in the years to come for the good of both countries.

His Highness said that to take trade and investment relations to new levels of mutual economic growth, the UAE is eager to continue talks with the Philippines in order to reach a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). In addition to being one of the Philippines’ main economic partners in the area, the UAE works with the Philippines through ASEAN, where it has been a Sectoral Dialogue Partner since 2022.
