His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates and the ruler of Abu Dhabi, will meet with Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., the country’s first head of state and government to visit the United Arab Emirates in 15 years, to sign agreements that will strengthen the two countries’ bilateral and diplomatic ties.
“With President Marcos’ visit to the UAE, the Philippines is eager to boost further the positive, robust, and comprehensive state and trajectory of our relationship with the UAE, which is deeply rooted in our common interests, shared values, and mutual cooperation,” Philippine Ambassador to the UAE Alfonso Ferdinand Ver told Gulf Today on Saturday.
He added that President Marcos Jr. “will personally oversee the overall state of bilateral relations between the Philippines and the UAE and witness the signing of several agreements across a wide array of areas of cooperation such as energy transition, defense, and culture” during the one-day working visit on November 26.
Since the visit falls on the 50th anniversary of the “formal diplomatic relations between the Philippines and the United Arab Emirates,” the ambassador referred to it as a “significant milestone.
