With strong capacity expansion and operational resilience, Dubai International Airport (DXB) is further solidifying its position as the world’s top hub for international aviation travel. Aviation experts say that Dubai isn’t slowing down at all, even though Emirates and flydubai are both expanding their networks.
According to newly disclosed figures for 2026, DXB handled 62.4 million foreign tickets in 2025, thus expanding its advantage over major competitors like Istanbul and London Heathrow. Dubai is growing more and more into a global mobility powerhouse, with predictions of 96 million passengers in 2026 and a breakthrough to 100 million by early 2027.
Middle Eastern airports, led by DXB, are becoming more influential globally, according to OAG’s 2025 capacity rankings. The region’s airports are performing better than pre-pandemic standards, and DXB in particular is playing a pivotal role as an international travel hub. With 62.4 million international seats handled in 2025, DXB remained the world’s busiest international airport. According to OAG Aviation Worldwide, DXB’s capacity has increased by 4% year-on-year and by 16% compared to 2019 levels, putting it 13.5 million seats ahead of London Heathrow, the second busiest airport.
