According to a senior Trump administration official on Tuesday, over 25,000 people have indicated interest in joining the Tech Force, the Trump administration’s group of engineers. The US government wants to fill federal positions with personnel who have experience with artificial intelligence. In a post on X, Scott Kupor, director of the US Office of Personnel Management, stated that the Trump administration will use that list to hire software and data engineers in addition to other tech positions.
According to Kupor’s earlier statement, the recruits will work on technological initiatives for two years within federal departments, including the Departments of Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs, and Justice, among others.
The recruiting program is a component of the AI agenda of the Trump administration. Similar programs to attract digital expertise to government have been started by other US presidents, such as former President Joe Biden.
During the first few months of his second term, Trump concentrated on getting rid of government employment, with the exception of those his administration said were essential to “national security.” A change from the downsizing campaign is Tech Force.
