According to government data, Saudi Arabia’s non-oil exports increased 17.8% in the second quarter of 2025. The General Authority for Statistics of Saudi Arabia announced that national non-oil exports, excluding re-exports, increased by 5.6%, while re-exports increased by 46.2%.
According to the Authority, which was cited by the Saudi Press Agency, the share of non-oil exports, including re-exports, in imports rose from 35.8% in Q2 2024 to 37.3 percent in Q2 2025. This was explained by the fact that, over the same time period, non-oil exports increased 17.8% while imports increased 13.1%.
A 15.8% drop in oil exports in Q2 2025 caused a 7.3% year-over-year drop in overall merchandise exports. This, together with a 13.1% rise in imports, caused the merchandise trade balance surplus to decline by 56.2% from the same quarter in 2024.
During the quarter, oil’s percentage of the Kingdom’s overall exports decreased from 74.7% to 67.9%, indicating a slow rebalancing of the export basket. June’s monthly figures, however, revealed a more encouraging pattern. Despite a slight 1.7% increase in imports, non-oil exports increased by 22.1%. As a result, the trade balance surplus increased by 10.6% annually.
