This role has broadened his leadership capabilities and expertise in facilities management, as Mani prioritizes innovation and teamwork for long-term success.

We started by asking, “What motivated you to take on your current role, and how has it shaped your career?”
Mani Moorthy shared, “My passion for operational excellence and strategic problem-solving motivated me to take on my current role as Director of Operations at UCWF Facilities Management. With over 18years of experience in the industry, I have always been driven by the challenge of optimizing processes, enhancing service quality, and delivering sustainable solutions. This role has shaped my career by broadening my leadership capabilities, deepening my expertise in facilities management, and reinforcing the importance of innovation and teamwork in achieving long-term success. It has also allowed me to mentor teams, build strong client relationships, and drive impactful change in the industry.”

Every career path demands certain risky decisions and to learn if Mani Moorthy faced a similar phase, we asked him to share a moment of his career path taking a big risk and key learnings from the situation.
Mani Moorthy mentioned, “One of the biggest risks I took in my career was transitioning from a technical role to a leadership position in facilities management. Moving from hands-on operations to a strategic, decision-making role required me to step out of my comfort zone, take on greater responsibilities, and develop a new skill set in leadership, business development, and client relations. The experience taught me that growth comes from embracing challenges, and success often requires calculated risks. It also reinforced the value of adaptability, continuous learning, and trusting my team to achieve shared goals. This decision ultimately helped me expand my career and make a more significant impact in the industry.”

We also asked, “Can you tell us about a project or initiative that has been particularly meaningful to you?”
“One of the most meaningful projects I’ve been involved in was the implementation of a large-scale energy management initiative for a major commercial complex in the UAE. The goal was to enhance sustainability by optimizing energy consumption, integrating smart automation, and reducing the carbon footprint.” Mani responded, “This project not only improved operational efficiency but also significantly cut energy costs for the client. Seeing the positive impact—both environmentally and financially—was incredibly rewarding. It reinforced my belief in the power of innovation and sustainability in facilities management and how small changes can drive long-term benefits for businesses and communities.”

Mani Moorthy explained, “AI is no longer a futuristic concept—it is a necessity in today’s business landscape. In facilities management, AI-driven automation, predictive maintenance, and smart analytics are transforming operations, making them more efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable. By leveraging AI, we can proactively address maintenance issues before they escalate, optimize resource allocation, and enhance customer experiences. Mani Moorthy replied, “One of the recent challenges was managing operational efficiency while ensuring sustainability in our facilities management services. Balancing cost-effectiveness with eco-friendly solutions requires innovative thinking and strategic planning. We tackled this by integrating smart technologies, such as AI-driven energy management and predictive maintenance, to optimize resource utilization without compromising service quality. Collaboration with stakeholders, continuous staff training, and staying updated with industry advancements also played a crucial role in overcoming this challenge. By adopting a proactive approach, we were able to enhance efficiency, reduce environmental impact, and maintain high service standards.”

A strong leader must also foster collaboration, inspire teams, and make informed decisions that align with both business goals and societal needs. Equally important is emotional intelligence—understanding and supporting employees while driving a culture of resilience and growth. “Our key goal for the next year is to strengthen our client relationships by providing personalized, high-quality service tailored to their specific needs. We aim to enhance our customer support infrastructure, improve communication channels, and further streamline our service offerings. By building stronger partnerships, we want to ensure our clients feel valued, which will ultimately lead to increased client retention, long-term success, and growth for the company.” Mani added.
