We recently had the opportunity to engage in an insightful conversation with Julie Andersen, the Founder and CEO of Flair Properties, a young Norwegian woman who has lived all over the world. From starting a business in the dynamic real estate landscape of Dubai to successfully scaling it, Julie’s passion and resilience have helped her become her own boss at a commendably young age.

With a vision to build the right structure and support in this sector, she founded Flair Properties, creating a platform that empowers agents and ultimately leads to an elevated client experience. We started the interview by asking, “Could you start by telling us about your professional journey and inspiration behind jumping into this industry?”

Julie shared, “My journey into real estate grew from both professional ambition and personal experience. I have always been drawn to industries where strategy and human connection intersect — and real estate is exactly that.

Before founding Flair Properties, I was investing in properties myself. Going through that process gave me a very practical understanding of how important clarity and guidance are when making significant financial decisions. I realised that with the right structure and mindset, the client experience could be elevated considerably.

That realisation became the foundation of Flair — a company built on thoughtful advisory, transparency, and long-term thinking. We look at the market constructively and strategically, focusing on what truly fits each client’s goals rather than promoting one specific area or product.

For me, real estate is not about transactions. It is about responsibility.”

From Experiences to Key Lesson

In a professional journey, every experience turns out to be a crucial lesson to carry forward. Intrigued to learn more, we asked Julie Andersen, “As a professional in this field, what are a few lessons that helped you in leading your work?

One key lesson is that clarity creates confidence. Clear standards, clear communication, and clear expectations allow both teams and clients to operate with certainty.

Another lesson is that leadership is demonstrated, not declared. Culture is shaped daily through behaviour — through consistency, integrity, and accountability.

And finally, structure enables performance. When systems are strong and responsibilities are defined, professionals can focus on delivering real value rather than navigating confusion,” she reflects.

Navigating through Uncertainties

Challenges are a part of every journey. So we asked Julie Andersen, “Would you like to share what you feel is a major challenge in starting a business or career? And how did you overcome it?”

Sharing the obstacles in building a successful business, Julie reflected, “One of the biggest challenges when starting a business is building credibility in a competitive market. Especially in real estate, where visibility is high and differentiation can be difficult.

For us, the solution was clarity of positioning and discipline in execution. We made a conscious decision to take a consultative approach — understanding clients’ objectives first, then tailoring options accordingly across the market.

Staying consistent in that philosophy helped us build trust steadily rather than chasing short-term visibility.”

Envisioning the Future of Flair Properties

We then asked, “What are your plans with the services that you provide? Could you share a bit about it with our viewers?”

Our focus is long-term refinement rather than rapid expansion. We aim to continue strengthening our advisory depth — combining market knowledge, data analysis, and strategic thinking to provide clients with well-structured guidance.

Dubai is a fast-moving and diverse market. Our role is to filter that complexity and provide clarity. As we grow, we remain committed to professionalism, strong internal structure, and a culture that supports both excellence and integrity.

Growth is important — but reputation is fundamental,” Julie mentioned.

Reshaping Businesses with AI

Nowadays, AI is everywhere. Even businesses are adapting to it increasingly. To understand Julie Andersen’s perspective on the rising impact of AI, we asked her to share her thoughts on this.

She explained, “AI is an important advancement, particularly in data analysis, efficiency, and research. It allows businesses to operate more intelligently and respond more quickly.

In real estate, however, technology complements — it does not replace — human judgment. Property decisions are financial, but they are also emotional. Understanding risk tolerance, ambition, and personal circumstances requires experience and empathy. The future belongs to companies that combine technological tools with strong professional judgment.”

Words of Wisdom for Aspiring Professional

Lastly, addressing the beginners, we asked Julie Andersen, “What would be your advice to beginners in this field or in any field of business?”

Julie responded, “Focus on building competence before visibility. Understand your market deeply. Learn the fundamentals thoroughly. Be patient with growth, but serious about standards.

Protect your reputation. In any industry — and especially in real estate — trust compounds over time. Integrity and consistency will always outlast short-term wins.

And as you grow, be intentional about the people you surround yourself with. Build a team of competent professionals who complement your strengths rather than mirror them. Strong management is not built on similarity — it is built on balance. Different perspectives, different experiences, and different skill sets create stronger decisions and more resilient leadership. No one builds lasting success alone. The right team is not just support — it is structure.”
