We recently had the opportunity to interview Hira Bulani, Founder & CEO of MOVIEDOM, a pioneering force behind the integration of blockchain technology and entertainment. From offering a diverse range of content to the introduction of MDOM tokens, MOVIEDOM provides premium cinematic experiences alongside top-notch investment options. We started the interview by asking, “What first inspired you to pursue your current industry or professional path? Was there a defining moment or influence that shaped your direction?”

Hira shared, “My journey into the entertainment and blockchain space has been a blend of passion for storytelling and frustration with the industry’s inequities. As a serial entrepreneur with over four decades in business—starting from corporate services and artist management through Milesahead—I’ve always been drawn to creative industries that empower people.

The defining moment came around 2016, when I directed and managed projects under Milesahead Moviedom, including controversial music videos like rapper Babu Haabi’s track that sparked national debate for its bold social commentary. We faced threats and backlash, but standing firm taught me the power of unfiltered art and the need for better support systems for creators. That ignited my vision for MOVIEDOM: a platform where independent filmmakers and musicians aren’t at the mercy of gatekeepers.

By 2021, with investments in 100-seater twin-screen mini-multiplexes and event production in India, I saw blockchain as the tool to democratize funding. It’s not just a career—it’s a mission to give creators fair stakes in their own success.”

Adaptability Amidst Challenges

Challenges are a part of every professional path. To learn how Hira Bulani dealt with similar phases, we asked, “Can you describe one significant challenge you’ve faced in your career or business, and how you successfully overcame it?”

He explained, “One of the toughest hurdles was navigating regulatory and cultural pushback in India’s entertainment scene during the early days of Milesahead Moviedom. In 2016, we released a rap video critiquing societal icons, which led to police complaints, death threats to the artist, and intense media scrutiny. As director, I had to balance artistic integrity with personal safety while refusing to pull the content offline. It felt like the entire industry was against us—distributors backed out, and funding dried up overnight.

I overcame it by doubling down on transparency and community. We rallied supporters through social media, emphasizing the video’s intent as social commentary, not offense. I personally handled calls from stakeholders, rebuilding trust one conversation at a time. This resilience led to broader alliances, including our pivot to blockchain for MOVIEDOM. Today, with $45 million in real-world assets tokenized across projects, that experience honed my ability to turn crises into catalysts for innovation—proving that adversity builds unbreakable networks.”

Envisioning the Future of the Entertainment Industry

To understand Hira Bulani’s perspective on the key trends or changes he believes will shape the future of his industry over the next 3–5 years, we asked him to share his thoughts.

The entertainment industry is on the cusp of a decentralization revolution, driven by blockchain, Web3, and tokenized assets. Over the next 3–5 years, I see crowdfunding evolving from niche to mainstream, with platforms like MOVIEDOM enabling fans to co-own projects via utility tokens like MDOM—think direct stakes in films, music royalties, and event tickets without middlemen. Streaming will fragment further, with AI-personalized content clashing against creator-owned DAOs for revenue control.

Another big shift: hybrid physical-digital experiences. Mini-multiplexes and mega-events will integrate NFTs for exclusive access, blending Bollywood’s spectacle with global Web3 accessibility. In India and the Middle East, where MOVIEDOM operates via our Dubai LLC, regulatory clarity on crypto will accelerate this—expect tokenized IP to become standard by 2028. Challenges like piracy will persist, but transparent smart contracts will ensure fair splits, fostering a more equitable ecosystem where independents thrive alongside studios,” Hira reflects.

Plans we asked Hira Bulani

We further asked, “What are your long-term aspirations for your company or role, and what strategies are you implementing to reach them?”

He mentioned, “My ultimate aspiration for MOVIEDOM is to become the go-to blockchain ecosystem for global entertainment, tokenizing $1 billion in creator projects by 2030 and empowering 10,000 artists with direct audience funding. As CEO, I envision a world where ‘success participation’ is the norm—fans aren’t just viewers; they’re investors sharing in hits like our upcoming multiplex-backed films.

To get there, we’re laser-focused on strategic scaling: our recent partnership with Faster Capital’s Equity Pilot program provides mentorship and capital acceleration for tokenized crowdfunding and decentralized ticketing. We’re launching MDOM token listings on exchanges like MEXC, BLOFIN, COINDCX, WEEX, BICONOMY, starting with a TGE on November 27th to bootstrap liquidity.

Community governance via DAO will drive decisions, while pilots in India and Dubai test revenue-sharing models. It’s about building sustainably—leveraging my 40+ years of entrepreneurship to create a self-reinforcing loop of creators, investors, and audiences.”

Enhancing Services with AI

The soaring popularity of AI has been redefining business across sectors. To learn more from Hira Bulani, we asked, “How do you see artificial intelligence and emerging technologies influencing your industry or business model?”

Hira explained, “AI is a double-edged sword for entertainment: a creative accelerator and a potential disruptor of human artistry. At MOVIEDOM, we’re embracing it to enhance, not replace—using generative AI for script ideation, personalized fan recommendations, and predictive analytics on project success, which could cut production costs by 30-40% in the next few years. Emerging tech like blockchain-AI hybrids will revolutionize our model: Smart contracts automated by AI for instant royalty splits, or VR/AR for immersive tokenized events.

But I’m cautious—AI risks flooding the market with formulaic content, as seen in Hollywood’s concerns over job displacement. For us, it means prioritizing ethical integration: AI tools for VFX in our films, but human creators at the helm. By 2028, I foresee AI democratizing entry-level production, allowing indie filmmakers to compete globally via platforms like ours, while blockchain ensures provenance against deepfakes. It’s about augmentation—tech amplifies stories, but empathy drives them.”

Values Guiding MOVIEDOM Forward

Intrigued to learn more about the core principles that run Hira Bulani’s company, we asked, “What are the core values or guiding principles that influence your decisions and the way your organization operates?”

Transparency, equity, and resilience are the pillars of MOVIEDOM. ‘Fair access for all creators’ ‘fan2founder moment’ isn’t a tagline—it’s our ethos, born from seeing talented artists sidelined by opaque systems and fans who make them successful, they don’t get anything. Every decision, from token allocation to partnership vetting, passes through: Does this empower the underserved? We operate with smart-contract immutability for trust, DAO voting for inclusivity, and a ‘no-gatekeeper’ policy that prioritizes direct artist-audience links.

Resilience comes from my journey—facing threats in 2016 reinforced that bold choices build legacies. We foster kindness in teams: Mentorship programs for emerging talent, profit-sharing that rewards collaboration. These aren’t buzzwords; they’re audited in our governance, ensuring MOVIEDOM isn’t just profitable, but principled no fly by night project, a fundamentally strong utility and security MDOM token,” he shared.

Embracing Innovation at MOVIEDOM

Innovative practices are the backbone of a company’s success. So, we asked Hira Bulani, “Can you share an innovative strategy or approach that helped your company stand out or achieve a breakthrough?”

Hira shared, “Our breakthrough came from ‘tokenized real-world projects’ (RWPs)—bridging blockchain hype with tangible entertainment infrastructure. Instead of a pure meme token, MDOM backs actual investments: $45 million in Indian scores of mini-multiplexes, film productions in Hollywood and Bollywood and mega-events or concerts since 2021. This hybrid approach—registering in India for ops, Dubai for global reach—let us tokenize projects early, attracting investors who want utility over speculation.

The strategy: ‘Vibe-to-Value’ markets, where fans stake MDOM on project outcomes like a film’s box-office milestone, turning passive viewers into active co-producers. It stood out during our presale, raising funds despite a crowded market by emphasizing real equity. Post-Faster Capital partnership, it’s scaling to decentralized ticketing, creating a flywheel of engagement that differentiates us from traditional platforms.”

Evolution of Hira Bulani’s Leadership Approach

Lastly, we asked, “How has your leadership style evolved throughout your journey, and what lessons have shaped your approach to leading teams or businesses?”

Early on, as a solo entrepreneur in corporate services, my style was directive—hustle-first, bootstrapping Moviedom through sheer grit. The 2016 controversy was a pivot: it taught me that vulnerability builds loyalty, shifting me toward empathetic, collaborative leadership. Now, at MOVIEDOM, I’m a ‘facilitator-in-chief’—empowering teams via DAOs, where decisions emerge from diverse input, not top-down edicts.

From threats, I learned crisis communication as trust-building; and from 20 years of failures, I learned that adaptability trumps perfection. I prioritize ‘kind candor’—fostering psychological safety so innovators thrive. It’s evolved into inclusive agility: Remote-first for our India-Dubai teams, with weekly ‘story shares’ to humanize goals. Leading in Web3 means modeling resilience—celebrating wins like our token launch while iterating on setbacks. Ultimately, it’s about igniting others’ fire, not dimming my own,” Hira added.
