nability and energy conservation. Growing up in Palestine, I witnessed firsthand the challenges of resource scarcity and environmental degradation, which fueled my desire to pursue a career in environmental engineering.

After earning my degree in Environmental Engineering, I immersed myself in sustainability initiatives, driven by a mission to create real impact. Winning the Young Champion of the Earth for West Asia (2018) was a defining moment—it gave me a global platform to advocate for green energy, resource efficiency, and climate resilience. From there, my career evolved from consultancy to leading renewable energy, waste management, green building, and sustainable infrastructure projects.”

Building a Sustainable Future

We wanted to learn more about the business Heba leads and the services she provides. So, we asked: “Can you share more about your current role and the business you lead? What are the core services/products you provide?”

“I lead sustainability projects focusing on renewable energy, recycling, and environmental conservation. My work involves implementing green building initiatives, waste-to-energy systems, and energy efficiency programs.

The goal is to help businesses and governments integrate climate-smart solutions into their operations, ensuring long-term environmental and economic benefits.”

Navigating Challenges in Sustainability

Every industry presents its challenges. To understand Heba’s experience, we asked:

“What challenges have you faced as a business leader, and how have you overcome them?”

“One of the biggest challenges is navigating the complexities of environmental policies and regulations, especially in emerging markets where sustainability frameworks are still evolving. Additionally, securing funding for large-scale sustainability projects requires a deep understanding of climate finance, carbon markets, and impact investing.

To overcome these challenges, I have focused on building strategic partnerships with governments, private investors, and international organizations. Collaboration is key—working with multiple stakeholders ensures that sustainability initiatives receive both financial backing and policy support, increasing their long-term viability.” stated Heba

The Role of AI in Sustainability

Technology is redefining every sector. We asked Heba: “How do you see technology, especially AI, impacting your industry? Are there any innovative practices you’re implementing?”

“AI is playing a transformative role in sustainability, from predictive analytics in energy management to AI-driven waste sorting and carbon footprint tracking.

In my work, I see great potential for machine learning algorithms to optimize energy efficiency, automate carbon credit calculations, and enhance ESG reporting. One of the key areas of innovation is AI-driven environmental monitoring, which enables real-time data collection on air and water quality, emissions, and energy consumption. These insights help businesses and policymakers make data-driven sustainability decisions, ensuring maximum impact.”

A Vision for the Future

Looking ahead, we asked: “What are your views on the future of the industry you’re associated with?”

“The future of sustainability lies in decarbonization, circular economies, and green finance. Governments and corporations are recognizing that climate action is not just an ethical responsibility but an economic opportunity.

I believe that carbon markets, sustainable infrastructure, and renewable energy integration will drive the next wave of economic transformation. The Middle East, in particular, is making significant strides in solar, hydrogen, and ESG frameworks, offering unprecedented opportunities for businesses that prioritize climate-smart investments. Sustainability is no longer a niche sector—it is becoming the foundation of resilient economies.”

Advice for Aspiring Entrepreneurs

We asked Heba what advice she would give to those looking to enter the sustainability space. “What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs or leaders looking to make an impact in your industry?”

“Start with a clear purpose—sustainability is not just a business; it’s a mission.

Build strong networks—Collaborate with industry experts, investors, and policymakers to amplify your impact.

Stay adaptable—Sustainability is evolving rapidly; be open to new technologies, regulations, and market trends.

Leverage climate finance—Explore carbon credits, green bonds, and impact investing to secure funding for your projects.

Be patient but persistent—Environmental change takes time, but the long-term rewards are worth the effort.”

Mastering Work-Life Balance

Finally, we asked: “How do you maintain a work-life balance while managing a business?”

“Balancing a demanding career with personal life requires intentional time management and prioritization.

I focus on efficiency and delegation, ensuring that I maximize productivity without compromising on personal well-being. Taking mindful breaks—whether through travel, nature exploration, or quality family time—energizes and motivates me.

Passion fuels my work, but mental and emotional well-being are equally important for long-term success.”
