Aubrey Heldt

We recently had the privilege of having an insightful conversation with Aubrey Heldt, a seasoned professional in the corporate travel industry with more than three decades of experience. Currently leading as the Managing Director at HTMC by Hariom Travels, he strengthens the company’s travel portfolio, and builds sustainable relationships with clients, ensuring excellence in every aspect. Committed to integrity and adaptability, Aubrey Heldt envisions elevating the travel experience with innovative solutions and operational excellence.

The Beginning

We started the interview by asking, “How did your professional journey begin, and what key moments shaped where you are currently?”

Aubrey shared, “I began my professional journey in the travel industry with Kanoo Travel. Working within such a well-established regional organization gave me invaluable exposure to the foundations of corporate travel and tourism.

Starting out, I focused on understanding the operational side of the business  — client servicing, travel management solutions, and the day-to-day mechanics that keep corporate travel running seamlessly. That hands-on experience shaped my approach to leadership and reinforced the importance of service excellence, strong relationships, and adaptability in an ever-evolving industry.

A defining step was entering the travel industry and joining Kanoo Travel, part of YBA Kanoo, where I combined strategic leadership with customer-centric service on a global scale. By embracing digital transformation, leading through industry disruption, and building trusted partnerships strengthened my resilience, adaptability, and commitment to integrity.

Today, I remain focused on elevating the travel experience through innovation, operational excellence, and lasting client relationships.”

More about Aubrey Heldt’s Role

To learn more about Aubrey Heldt’s daily life at Hariom Travels, we asked, “Can you tell us more about your current role?”

He explained, “As Managing Director of HTMC by Hariom Travels, I lead the company’s overall strategy, operations, and growth initiatives. My role focuses on strengthening our corporate travel portfolio, building long-term client relationships, and ensuring service excellence across all touchpoints.

I oversee business development, financial performance, supplier partnerships, and team leadership — working closely with our management team to drive efficiency, innovation, and sustainable growth.

A key part of my responsibility is positioning HTMC by Hariom Travels as a trusted travel management partner by combining personalized service with modern travel solutions and technology.”

Unique Offerings at HTMC by Hariom Travels

We then asked, “What core services does your business provide that make them unique?”

At HTMC by Hariom Travels, we go beyond booking travel — we deliver fully integrated travel management solutions tailored to each client’s needs. From corporate travel and MICE management to customized holidays and visa support, our focus is on efficiency, transparency, and seamless execution.

What differentiates us is our client-centric approach, strong global partnerships, and commitment to service excellence. We combine advanced reporting and cost-control tools with personalized attention to ensure every journey is smooth, strategic, and value-driven. In a rapidly evolving travel landscape, our mission is to be a trusted partner that empowers businesses and travelers with reliability, innovation, and peace of mind,” Aubrey added.

Navigating through Uncertainties

Challenges are a part of every professional path. To learn more about the setbacks faced by Aubrey Heldt, we asked, “What major challenges have you faced as a leader and how have you overcome them?”

Aubrey mentioned, “One of the most significant challenges I’ve faced as a leader was navigating industry-wide disruption during periods of global uncertainty. Travel came to a near standstill, client confidence declined, and operational pressures increased dramatically.

To overcome this, I focused on three key actions: maintaining transparent communication with clients and partners, prioritizing the well-being and alignment of our team, and accelerating digital and operational efficiencies. Instead of reacting defensively, we used the period to strengthen internal systems, diversify service offerings, and reinforce client relationships.

Another ongoing challenge has been balancing cost control with service excellence in a highly competitive market. We addressed this by implementing smarter reporting tools, strengthening supplier negotiations, and adopting a consultative approach with clients to ensure value without compromising quality.

These experiences reinforced my belief that resilience, adaptability, and clear communication are the cornerstones of effective leadership.”

Impact of AI in the Travel Industry

Intrigued to learn Aubrey Heldt’s insights on the rising significance of AI, and its influence on his sector, we asked him to share the same.

He commented, “Technology, particularly Artificial Intelligence — is fundamentally reshaping the travel and travel management sector. At HTMC by Hariom Travels, we see AI not as a replacement for human expertise, but as a powerful enabler.

AI enhances personalization by analyzing traveler preferences, booking patterns, and spending behavior to deliver smarter recommendations. It strengthens operational efficiency through automated bookings, predictive pricing insights, expense tracking, and real-time reporting. In corporate travel especially, AI-driven data analytics improves policy compliance, cost optimization, and traveler risk management.”

Aubrey even mentioned, “Additionally, AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants are transforming customer service by providing 24/7 support and instant responses, while predictive tools help anticipate disruptions before they impact travelers.

However, in our sector, relationships and trust remain central. The true impact of AI lies in combining technology with human insight — creating faster, smarter, and more seamless travel experiences while maintaining personalized service and strategic oversight.”

Envisioning the Future of Travel Management

To understand his perspective on where his industry is heading in the next few years, we requested Aubrey Heldt to share the same.

Aubrey shared, “The travel industry is entering a phase defined by smarter personalization, heightened flexibility, and data-driven decision-making. In the next few years, I expect three major trends to shape the sector. First will be hyper-personalized experiences. Travelers will increasingly expect tailored itineraries, dynamic pricing, and AI-assisted recommendations that reflect their preferences, behaviors, and purpose of travel – whether corporate or leisure.

Also, we can expect integrated technology ecosystems; from AI and automation to blockchain and real-time analytics — technology will streamline bookings, enhance risk management, and enable more efficient corporate travel programs. Finally, sustainability and responsible travel will be the key elements in the transformation. Environmental and social considerations will become core to travel planning, with companies and travelers alike prioritizing green options and ethical partners.

Overall, the industry will shift toward a more agile, intelligent, and customer-centric model – where technology amplifies human expertise rather than replaces it.”

Message to Young Professionals

Lastly, addressing the beginners in this field, we asked Aubrey Heldt, “What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs or professionals aiming to create impact?”

Aubrey shared, “My advice to aspiring entrepreneurs and professionals is simple: focus on value before visibility. Build something meaningful, solve real problems, and let impact drive growth — not just ambition.

First, develop resilience. Every industry, especially sectors like travel, faces uncertainty and rapid change. Challenges are inevitable, but adaptability and consistency set true leaders apart.

Second, invest in relationships. Success is rarely built alone. Strong partnerships, trust, and reputation are long-term assets that no technology can replace.

Third, stay curious and embrace innovation. Whether it’s AI, digital tools, or evolving customer expectations, continuous learning is non-negotiable in today’s business landscape. Finally, lead with integrity. Sustainable success comes from credibility, transparency, and delivering on your promises.

Impact is not created overnight — it’s built through discipline, purpose, and the courage to evolve.”
