The Beginning

Interested to learn how Amjad Al Anaswah started his professional journey, we asked, “How did your professional journey begin, and what key moments shaped where you are currently?”

Amjad shared, “My professional journey began with a deep-rooted passion for sustainability and a desire to create real, measurable impact. Early in my career, I worked in operational and environmental roles that exposed me to the critical challenges facing urban waste systems. A pivotal moment was witnessing firsthand how poor waste management can directly affect public health, economic growth, and environmental stability. That realization fueled my commitment to improve the waste management sector.

Over the years, taking on increasingly complex leadership roles, I gained the experience and vision necessary to lead a company that is now at the forefront of sustainable waste treatment and recycling.”

We also asked, “Can you tell us more about your current role and the organization you lead or represent?”

As CEO of Amman Vision for Treatment and Recycling (AVTR), I am responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and sustainable growth of the organization. We are a leading company in waste management, offering a full spectrum of services — from collection and sorting to advanced treatment and recycling. Current Offerings at AVTR

Intrigued to learn more about the services offered by Amjad Al Anaswah’s venture, we asked, “What core services or products does your business provide, and what makes them unique?”

Our core services include waste collection, sorting, treatment, recycling, and resource recovery. What sets us apart is our integrated approach — combining environmental responsibility with operational efficiency. We invest heavily in modern sorting technologies, data-driven logistics, and sustainable treatment methods that go beyond compliance to deliver measurable environmental and economic impact. Additionally, we focus on education and community engagement, ensuring that waste reduction and recycling are not just processes but part of a cultural shift,” Amjad added.

Navigating through Uncertainties

Challenges are an inevitable part of every professional journey’s growth. So, we asked, “What major challenges have you faced as a leader, and how have you overcome them?”

He reflected, “One of the major challenges has been shifting public and institutional perception of waste — from something to be discarded to a resource that holds value. Changing this mindset required a mix of education, strategic communication, and results-driven case studies. Another challenge has been navigating regulatory complexities while scaling operations.

To overcome these, we invested in a strong compliance and innovation team, allowing us to stay ahead of policy changes and adopt best practices. Most importantly, I’ve learned that resilience, adaptability, and having a mission-driven team are crucial for overcoming industry hurdles.”

A Wave of Transformation

Technological advancements are reshaping businesses across sectors. To learn Amjad Al Anaswah’s view on the rising influence of AI, we asked, “How do you see technology — especially AI — influencing your sector?”

Technology, particularly AI, is transforming waste management from a reactive process into a proactive, intelligent system. AI enhances everything from route optimization in waste collection to real-time sorting in recycling facilities. We are already implementing AI-driven systems that can identify and separate materials with incredible accuracy, improving efficiency and purity in recycling streams.

Moreover, predictive analytics helps us manage volumes, forecast trends, and reduce operational costs. As AI matures, it will play a central role in enabling smart waste ecosystems and supporting broader sustainability goals,” Amjad commented.

Envisioning the Future

To learn more, we asked Amjad Al Anaswah to share his perspective on the industry’s growth in the next few years.

He added, “The waste management industry is rapidly evolving from a linear model to a circular economy framework. We’re moving toward systems that prioritize resource recovery, carbon reduction, and zero-waste policies. In the next few years, I foresee greater integration of digital tools, stricter environmental regulations, and increased collaboration between governments, private sectors, and communities.

Sustainable waste management will no longer be a secondary issue — it will be central to urban planning, economic development, and climate strategy. Companies that embrace innovation and transparency will lead this transformation.”

Insights of an Expert

Addressing the aspiring professionals in the waste management sector, we asked Amjad Al Anaswah, “What advice would you give to aspiring entrepreneurs or professionals aiming to create impact?”

Focus on purpose over profit. When your mission is rooted in solving real-world problems, success becomes a byproduct. Be patient — impact takes time, especially in sectors like waste and sustainability. Embrace learning, surround yourself with people smarter than you, and don’t be afraid to challenge the status quo. Most importantly, understand that leadership is not about control — it’s about empowering others to grow, innovate, and drive meaningful change,” Amjad shared.
