The biggest automaker in the nation, Maruti Suzuki India, has declared a recall of 39,506 Grand Vitara models after discovering a problem with the warning light and fuel level indication in certain of the cars.
The impacted units were produced between December 9, 2024, and April 29, 2025. In a regulatory filing, the business stated that the gasoline level indicator may not accurately show the fuel status in some vehicles and promised to replace the defective speedometer assembly at no cost.
Maruti Suzuki authorized dealer workshops will contact affected car owners to arrange for a free examination and replacement of the defective part, according to the carmaker. The business reported that its domestic sales, including commercial vehicles, increased from 1,63,130 units a year ago to an all-time high of 1,80,675 units.
Earlier this month, the automaker achieved a significant milestone by selling 3 crore cars in the domestic market. With more than 47 lakh units sold, the Maruti Alto continues to be the best-selling model among the three crore automobiles sold in India. The Swift, with more than 32 lakh units, and the Wagon R, with around 34 lakh units, come next.
