Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney received congratulations from President Sheikh Mohamed for holding onto power in the country’s election. Sheikh Mohamed expressed his excitement about collaborating with Mr. Carney to strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
In a statement, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, congratulated Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the Liberal Party’s win and earning a fourth term in the country’s parliamentary elections.
In a social media message, Sheikh Mohamed congratulated Mark Carney on the Liberal Party’s victory in the Canadian election. I wish him well in guiding his nation and its citizens toward further prosperity and development, and I look forward to collaborating with him to deepen connections between the UAE and Canada.
Even though Mr. Carney failed to secure a majority, Pierre Poilievre, the head of the Conservative Party, acknowledged the loss and promised that his party will keep the minority administration accountable.
The UAE and Canada already have a close relationship; according to data from the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Canadian businesses have partnered with and invested billions of dollars in the UAE across various industries, including manufacturing, food, healthcare, education, banking and financial services, hospitality, and tourism.
