With private institutions around the emirate reporting an extraordinary 20% increase in student registration for the 2024–2025 academic year, Dubai’s higher education industry is flourishing. A number of institutions are modifing waitlists to control demand, particularly for highly sought-after programs in artificial intelligence (AI), technology, and business. Some waiting lists are first-come, first-served, while others are based on academic standards and interviews.
According to Dr. Anita Patankar, executive director of Symbiosis International University Dubai, student registration has increased by an astounding 120% this year. This indicates not just an increase in enrolment but also the confidence people have in our internationally relevant and CAA-accredited programs.
Symbiosis Dubai credits future-ready specialisations, especially in B.Tech and BCA degrees with advanced AI specialisations, with its skyrocketing popularity.
Due to Dubai’s thriving economy and the strong desire for leadership positions, our BBA and MBA programs are also in great demand,” Dr. Patankar continued. We have implemented waitlists for some undergraduate and graduate programs to guarantee that we satisfy demand while maintaining academic integrity.
Depending on the program, the institution assesses waitlisted individuals using certain academic and interview standards. For example, those pursuing an MBA must go through interviews after a preliminary eligibility screening, while those seeking a B.Tech must get a minimum of 65% in PCM courses.
