Mohammad Ali Rashed Lootah, President and CEO of Dubai Chambers, revealed that direct Thai investment in the Emirate of Dubai has totalled roughly $626 million over the last five years. He expressed confidence that these statistics will continue to rise, citing continuous efforts to develop commercial ties between Dubai and Thailand, such as the recent establishment of a new Dubai International Chamber representative office in Bangkok.

Lootah told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the new office is part of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce’s ‘New Horizons’ trade mission to Southeast Asia, which included the ‘Doing Business with Thailand’ forum on May 29th. He characterised it as a smart step to strengthen the UAE business community’s footprint in Thailand while also expanding trade and investment prospects in this dynamic nation.

Lootah stated that Thailand is one of Dubai’s top commercial partners in the ASEAN area. “Through this on-ground presence, we aim to deepen ties with the private sector and strengthen collaboration between the two sides,” added the ambassador.

He also cited a large growth in non-oil commerce between Dubai and Thailand in recent years, which has increased by 23% to $6.5 billion in 2024, up from around $5.3 billion in 2023. This indicates the strengthening of bilateral economic connections and emphasises the strategic relevance of the Thai market in Dubai Chambers’ worldwide growth objectives.
