He began by saying, “I’m happy to be at BRIDGE Summit, and I see myself as a bridge between different cultures,” which he reiterated throughout the day.

Elba explained in his own words what it means to connect the global media ecosystem in novel and inventive ways while talking about the wide variety of his work as an actor, DJ, director, and philanthropist. Moderator Dr. Julie Gichuru, President & CEO of the Africa Leadership and Dialogue Institute, referred to him as the “son of Africa.” As he discussed the numerous connections he is still making between artists, content producers, and young people in Africa, the name seemed appropriate. He emphasized that there are thousands of untold stories and cultural narratives in Africa that have the power to shape the global content landscape, noting that artists are in a unique position to change how the world views the continent.
