
According to an Egyptian government source on Monday, Hamas has accepted a 60-day truce agreement with Israel that calls for the release of certain Palestinian prisoners and the release of half of the hostages held in Gaza. “The movement has handed over its approval to the new proposal presented by the mediators,” stated Basem Naim, a senior Hamas leader, on Facebook, confirming the group’s approval of the proposal.
According to Israeli officials cited by Israeli media, the Hamas response has been received. Israel did not provide an official reaction. The United Arab Emirates persisted in providing humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip’s Palestinian population in the meantime.
