Etihad Airways flight EY10, traveling from Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport to Abu Dhabi, was diverted to Vienna after a passenger required urgent medical attention, the airline confirmed. The passenger was offloaded in Vienna and transferred to a hospital. Etihad said the aircraft has since departed Vienna and is continuing its journey to Abu Dhabi.
In a statement, the airline emphasized that the safety and comfort of passengers and crew remain its top priority, while expressing regret for any inconvenience caused by the diversion. This is the second such incident in recent months. In June, Etihad flight EY213 from New Delhi to Abu Dhabi was diverted to Muscat after a passenger onboard required immediate medical care. The airline confirmed at the time that the diversion was necessary to provide urgent assistance.
The passenger was taken off the flight in Vienna and transferred to a hospital. After refuelling, the aircraft resumed its journey to Abu Dhabi. “The safety and comfort of our guests and crew remain our highest priority, and we regret any inconvenience caused by this incident,” the airline said.
