On Thursday morning, an IndiGo flight from Surat headed for Dubai with about 150 passengers was rerouted to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International (SVPI) Airport in Ahmedabad due to a mechanical problem that arose in midair. Around 11.40 am, the Airbus A320-271N, aircraft 6E 1507, which had left Surat at 9.45 am, made a precautionary landing in Ahmedabad. But the landing wasn’t considered a “emergency.

An IndiGo representative issued the following official statement: “Due to a technical issue, IndiGo flight 6E 1507, which was traveling from Surat to Dubai, had to make a precautionary landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad. An alternate aircraft was quickly set up to finish the trip while the first aircraft undergoes the required maintenance inspections before starting up again.

The replacement flight landed in Dubai around 1.35 p.m. local time after departing Ahmedabad at approximately 1.45 p.m., according to the IANS news agency. Only a month has passed since another IndiGo flight from Delhi to Goa was forced to make a complete emergency landing in Mumbai due to an engine failure in midair.
