The Director of Dubai Police’s General Department of Traffic, Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, has emphasized that the force is aggressively investing in smart traffic technologies to enhance road safety and security and efficiently enforce traffic laws.
According to Al Mazrouei, these cutting-edge technologies are made to identify a variety of infractions, including failing to buckle up, using a cell phone while driving, and other driving distractions. Remarkably, they are able to record these infractions even when the car’s window is tinted.
Dubai Police’s cutting-edge smart traffic cameras have detected significant instances of distracted driving recently, underscoring the dangers associated with such actions.
In one case, a motorist was observed reading a newspaper that blocked her vision of the road, and another was observed using two phones simultaneously while operating a motor vehicle.
As part of its ongoing #Safe_Road_for_Everyone effort to encourage safe driving behaviors throughout the community, Dubai Police published an instructional film to increase awareness of the risks associated with distracted driving.
Al Mazrouei claims that Dubai Police’s investment in intelligent traffic systems, which are intended to improve road safety, allowed them to identify these infractions.
