The Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety and the Emirates Drug Establishment (EDE) have inked a Memorandum of Understanding to improve collaboration in the production of pharmaceuticals and medical goods.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which was inked in Korea, aims to share experiences between the UAE and Korea in areas such as drug regulation, best practices, clinical trials, and pharmacovigilance to ensure adherence to the highest standards of quality and safety in medical products.

Both Dr. Fatima Mohammed Al Kaabi, Director-General of the Emirates Drug Establishment, and Joon-Su Shin, General Director of the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety, signed the Memorandum of Understanding in the presence of representatives from their respective organisations.

The agreement is designed to speed up the registration of manufactured pharmaceutical products in both parties by implementing a fast-track approval process for early-stage pharmaceutical products that have already received endorsements from international regulatory bodies, such as the European Union, the United States, and Japan.

This will assist patients by shortening the time needed to introduce new products to both countries and enabling the faster availability of cutting-edge medicines. It also aims to improve post-marketing surveillance procedures to guarantee that medical products are free from flaws in quality or safety.
