With the signing of a strategic codeshare agreement with STARLUX Airlines, located in Taipei, Etihad Airways has increased customer access to Northeast Asia and reinforced Abu Dhabi’s status as an East-West gateway.
At the International Air Transport Association Annual General Meeting in New Delhi, the partnership was announced. It gives STARLUX passengers direct access to Etihad’s European network through Abu Dhabi, while Etihad customers can easily connect to major Japanese cities like Nagoya, Sapporo, and Fukuoka via Taipei.
Etihad will begin operating daily flights using Boeing 787 Dreamliners between Abu Dhabi and Taipei on September 7, 2025. The new route establishes Taipei as a gateway for Etihad’s growth into Northeast Asia and lays the groundwork for the codeshare cooperation.
STARLUX’s Asia-Pacific network offers simplified travel with single-ticket bookings, coordinated check-in procedures, and automated baggage transfers to final destinations for Etihad customers who book through etihad.com and the airline’s mobile app.
Abu Dhabi is now positioned as a desirable transit hub for Asian travellers heading to Europe thanks to the arrangement, which also creates new routes for STARLUX customers to access European locations including Prague, Madrid, and Barcelona.
