American singer-songwriter Barry Manilow tweeted on Wednesday that he was doing well after undergoing surgery to remove lung cancer, but that he was cancelling his forthcoming Las Vegas gigs. The 82-year-old singer, who had hits in the 1970s with songs like “Copacabana” and “Mandy,” announced in December that he had lung cancer and was planning to undergo surgery to cure it.
On Wednesday, he posted to Instagram to let his followers know that he was doing well after his surgery. However, in accordance with my doctor’s advice, we have chosen to reschedule my residency dates at Westgate Las Vegas from February 12-21. This will allow me to concentrate on healing and getting ready for the tour that starts at the end of February,” he added.
Manilow, who was born and brought up in New York, achieved his greatest fame in the 1970s and has since maintained a busy performing and recording schedule, including regular residency gigs in Sin City.
