As part of the UAE’s ongoing airbridge, the eighth humanitarian relief aircraft delivering 1,080 food boxes touched down in Sri Lanka’s capital, Colombo, today. Daily Mirror, Colombo, Dec. 9 Today, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) sent its eighth flight of humanitarian aid to Sri Lanka, bringing with it 27 metric tons of goods to help those impacted by Cyclone Ditwah.
At 1:20 p.m., a C-17, the biggest cargo aircraft of the UAE Air Force, touched down at Bandaranaike International Airport from Abu Dhabi with the shipment. 1,080 food packets, each enough to sustain a family of eight for 14 days, were transported on the trip, according to officials.
Along with representatives from the UAE Embassy, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Disaster Management Center, UAE Deputy Ambassador to Sri Lanka Rashed Ali Mazrouei formally accepted the help at the airport. The UAE reiterates its dedication to helping the amiable people of Sri Lanka and bolstering rescue, relief, and recovery efforts in the wake of the floods through its field personnel and ongoing airbridge.
