As Hamas and Israeli negotiators conducted indirect discussions on the second anniversary of the Oct. 7 onslaught, US President Donald Trump stated Tuesday that there was a “real chance” of a peace agreement in Gaza.

We are very close to making a deal on the Middle East that will bring peace to the Middle East,” Trump and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney told reporters as they entered the Oval Office.  Trump claimed that the current negotiations in Egypt included US negotiators.

Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner and special envoy Steve Witkoff will be involved, the White House announced Monday. “There’s a genuine possibility that we could take action,” Trump stated. I believe there is a chance that the Middle East will be at peace. It goes beyond the circumstances in Gaza. We demand that the hostages be released right away.

Another team just departed, our team is now there, and the plan has received support from practically every nation in the world.” The United States will do “everything possible to make sure everyone adheres to the deal if Israel and Hamas do agree on a truce to stop the fighting, Trump continued.
