Dubai’s budget airline Flydubai is preparing to launch a new premium economy class as part of its broader growth and modernization strategy, chief executive Ghaith Al Ghaith announced at the Dubai Airshow 2025.

Al Ghaith said the airline will soon offer three cabin classes business, premium economy, and economy marking a significant step forward in Flydubai’s evolution. “We will have three classes. We will have premium economy, economy and business classes,” he said.

The premium economy cabins will debut on Flydubai’s Boeing aircraft, while narrow-body jets will continue to operate with economy and business configurations due to space constraints. “In a narrow-body aircraft, we’ve not even thought about it. But in this business, you could never say no. Tomorrow, somebody is going to try it, or maybe even we, and we’ll see how it goes,” Al Ghaith added.

Earlier this week, Flydubai signed a landmark agreement with European plane manufacturer Airbus for 150 A321neo aircraft worth $24 billion (Dh88 billion). The new additions will diversify the airline’s fleet, which has so far relied primarily on Boeing jets. The Airbus deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2031, aligning with the launch of the first phase of Al Maktoum International Airport.
