The AI chatbot Grok, which blasted owner Elon Musk for “censoring me,” on Tuesday provided contradictory justifications for its temporary suspension from X after alleging the US and Israel of committing “genocide” in Gaza. The latest issue surrounding the chatbot, Grok, which was created by Musk’s artificial intelligence business xAI and integrated into his platform X, was briefly banned on Monday.
Asked by users why the suspension “occurred after I stated that Israel and the US are committing genocide in Gaza,” Grok cited reports from Amnesty International, the United Nations, and the International Court of Justice.
By claiming that the suspension was “just a dumb error” and that “Grok doesn’t actually know why it was suspended,” Musk attempted to minimize the reaction. On X, the millionaire had made a different joke: “Man, we shoot ourselves in the foot!
Grok provided users with a variety of justifications for the suspension, including technical issues, the platform’s hate speech policy, and inaccurate responses that users reported to X, which further muddled the issue.
