Two people were killed and six others were injured in a shooting outside a Salt Lake City church on Wednesday, according to the police. The incident happened in the parking lot of a Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints meetinghouse, which is commonly referred to as the Mormon church. At the time, dozens of people were inside for a funeral. The victims were all adults.
According to Salt Lake City Police Chief Brian Redd, “we don’t think this was a targeted attack against a religion or anything like that.” Additionally, police don’t think the shooting was random. No suspect was detained, according to the authorities.
