His Majesty Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah and a member of the Supreme Council, has issued an order establishing an extra stipend for the city’s pensioners.
According to the directive, Sharjah-registered pensioners who get a monthly pension of less than Dhs17,500 and who are employed by the federal government, regional emirate governments, or the private sector are eligible for this financial aid.
The award will ensure that their monthly income will rise to Dhs17,500, provided they do not receive any more salary, bonuses, or pensions that exceed this amount. Payments will be made from the day the application is received. The ordinance also creates a “Supplementary Grant Committee for Retirees” in Sharjah, supervised by the Department of Human Resources.
Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, the head of the Department of Human Resources, will chair the committee. Its members include Mohammed Obaid Al Shamsi, the director general of the Sharjah Social Security Fund; Walid Ibrahim Al Sayegh, the director general of the Central Finance Department; Dr. Mansour Mohammed Bin Nassar, the head of the Government of Sharjah’s Legal Department; and Noura Mohammed Al Nuaimi, the director of the Department of Human Resources’ Salaries Department, who will act as the committee rapporteur.
Every year, the Department of Human Resources will update beneficiary data and confirm eligibility while supervising the application process. Additionally, lists of eligible retirees will be prepared and routinely audited.
