The Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court decided that a lady who was insulted on social media by another woman had to compensate her with Dhs30,000. The court determined that the offensive remarks were personal in character and were made on images, videos, and private communications. A criminal case was then brought against her, and she was found guilty when it was claimed that her acts had harmed her both materially and morally.
The complainant specifically filed a lawsuit against the defendant, requesting a court order that Dhs150,000 be paid as compensation for the material, moral, and psychological suffering that the defendant’s conduct caused her. In addition, the complaint asked the defendant to pay for legal costs, fees, and legal counsel.
The defendant was accused of defaming the plaintiff using a social networking program, and the plaintiff filed a lawsuit on that ground. This included emailing offensive language in private and writing and commenting on images and videos. As a result, she suffered both monetary and moral loss when a criminal action was filed and a judgement was rendered. She filed the current action as a result, along with the requested documents.
