A significant amount of heroin and shabu have been successfully stopped from being smuggled by the UAE Ministry of Interior (MoI) in collaboration with its Kuwaiti equivalent. The narcotics were seized when they were being smuggled into Kuwait by sea. Ten kilogrammes of heroin and around 100 kilogrammes of shabu, valued at KWD1.15 million, were found in the seizure.

“We proudly affirm that this cooperation between the UAE Ministry of Interior and its Kuwaiti counterpart embodies a unified vision to combat the scourge of drugs and strengthens mutual trust between us in protecting our communities,” the Ministry of Interior said on Twitter.

The plot was thwarted following a tip-off—obtained via cooperative efforts—about the arrival of a maritime container filled with drugs as part of a coordinated global network. A strict security strategy was implemented to locate the container and apprehend the criminals.

In coordination with Kuwait’s General Administration of Customs, the container was permitted to depart Shuwaikh Port and was closely watched until the Afghan national who received it was apprehended in the Amghara region. The Kuwait Fire Force also participated in the technical processes and container opening to ensure the safety of the operation participants and the integrity of security protocols.
