His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, a member of the Supreme Council and the ruler of Sharjah, approved the boundaries of the Faya site nominated for inscription on the Unesco World Heritage List. This decision reflects his long-term vision and deep commitment to preserving humanity’s legacy and its treasures for future generations, said Sheikha Bodour Bint Sultan Al Qasimi, official ambassador for the ongoing Unesco World Heritage nomination of the Faya Palaeolandscape.

Our unwavering belief that heritage serves as a bridge between the past and present, giving communities a renewed identity and a living memory, is reflected in this site, whose history has been entwined with that of humanity for over 200,000 years. It also serves to further solidify Sharjah’s position as a global centre of knowledge and culture.

She stressed, “We are working really hard to make sure the Faya site gets the credit it deserves on the UNESCO World Heritage List. This location attests to the history of all humanity, not just that of the United Arab Emirates.
