US President Donald Trump declared a total truce between Israel and Iran on Monday, which might put an end to the 12-day conflict that caused millions of people to evacuate Tehran and raised concerns about a potential escalation in the conflict-torn area. The United States and Israel launched assaults on Iran’s nuclear facilities over the weekend after Israel said Tehran was on the verge of acquiring a nuclear bomb.
Assuming that all goes according to plan, which it will, I would want to commend Israel and Iran for having the fortitude, bravery, and intelligence to put an end to what should be referred to as “THE 12 DAY WAR,” Trump said on his Truth Social website.
Although an Iranian official acknowledged that Tehran had consented to a truce, Israel had not yet responded.
In a call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Trump mediated the agreement, according to a senior White House official, and Israel had agreed as long as Iran did not launch any more assaults.
Trump seemed to imply that the truce would start gradually after Israel and Iran had had time to finish any ongoing missions. Despite Iran’s denials of ever having a nuclear weapons program, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei has stated that international leaders “wouldn’t be able to stop us” if it did.
