The Federal National Council (FNC) Speaker, Saqr Ghobash, confirmed that the UAE has pursued a humanistic and visionary path since its inception, placing the principles of religious harmony, peaceful coexistence, and world peace at the core of its state-building model.
Ghobash said this while speaking at the Second Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, which is being held in Rome right now and is being co-organized by the Italian Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). A large number of parliamentary leaders, representatives from international organisations, faith-based institutions, and civil society organisations attended the conference.
Tulia Ackson, the Speaker of Tanzania’s National Assembly and President of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, was present. The UAE delegation included Ignazio La Russa, the president of the Italian Senate, and Lorenzo Fontana, the president of the Italian Chamber of Deputies. Several members of the FNC were also part of the delegation.
In his keynote address, Ghobash highlighted the Document on Human Fraternity as a groundbreaking achievement in interreligious and intercultural relations. It was introduced in Abu Dhabi in 2019 under the auspices of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
