On the first day of the Arab Media Summit 2025, the Arab Youth Media Forum included several lively “Media Chats” that examined how youth producers and regional media executives are changing the digital narrative locally and internationally. The seminars emphasised the importance of genuine voices in shaping the future of Arab media, ranging from online forums and cultural narratives to the expanding impact of podcasts.

In a session called “Online Communities,” moderator Ayesha bin Kalli, a Project Manager Expert at the Dubai Media Council, led a discussion with Holly Williams-Lloyd (The Huntr), Hessa Alechla (Wild Arab West), and Hessa Al Jasmi (Dubai Food Babes), three significant creators influencing Dubai’s changing digital identity.

Each panellist discussed how their individual interests led to creating digital platforms that have developed into reputable community hubs that support relatability, local culture, and business.

The conversation emphasised how digital communities can promote a sense of belonging and emphasise grassroots narratives, as demonstrated by The Huntr’s carefully chosen city guides, Dubai Food Babes’ community-led events, and Wild Arab West’s culturally inspired memes.

Thomas Khoury, managing director of Condé Nast Middle East, spoke with Hamda Al Najjar, senior executive of project management at the Dubai Media Council, at the session titled “Regional Narratives in Global Media.” Khoury discussed how Dubai is a perfect starting point for international media growth because of its diversified and tech-savvy populace.
