In time for the Australian summer holiday season, Etihad Airways will start operating twice-daily flights between Abu Dhabi and Sydney on December 15. The airline, which has been operating flights to Sydney since 2007, will increase the number of flights from its current ten to four each week, with two departures every day. Airbus A350-1000 aircraft will operate all services, offering over 5,000 tickets per week in each way. The Business cabin of the aircraft has 18.5-inch screens, wireless charging, 79-inch lie-flat beds, and private areas with sliding doors.
High-speed Wi-Fi is offered throughout the aircraft, and economy seats are 17.4 inches wide with 13.3-inch 4K touchscreens and Bluetooth audio. Australian tourists will have easier access to Abu Dhabi’s attractions, such as the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Zayed National Museum, Saadiyat Island, and Qasr Al Hosn, as well as the Formula 1 weekend at Yas Marina Circuit in December, thanks to the extra daily service. The Abu Dhabi Stopover program, which provides free hotel accommodations for one or two nites and now covers Al Ain, is another option available to travellers that connect through Abu Dhabi.
The extra flights will increase connectivity throughout Etihad’s network in Africa, Europe, the Indian subcontinent, the Gulf, and the larger Middle East. Through Etihad’s interline partners Qantas, Jetstar, and Air New Zealand, travellers visiting Sydney can also make connections to locations around Australia and New Zealand. The double-daily service will give travellers between Australia and Etihad’s growing worldwide network more options, according to Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways. The extra flights, he continued, improve connection between Abu Dhabi and locations in the Middle East and Europe while giving travellers more chances to visit the emirate.
