On World Refugee Day, Her Highness Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak, the “Mother of the Nation,” Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, honored the tenacity of millions of displaced women worldwide by announcing a number of new development and humanitarian initiatives. Sheikha Fatima emphasized that many refugee women still need basic requirements and called for focused international aid to help them achieve socioeconomic stability and live with dignity in a statement commemorating the annual event on June 20. She reaffirmed that the Sheikha Fatima Fund for Women Refugees is committed to closing these gaps by providing ongoing healthcare, education, and career training.

In collaboration with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR), the Emirates Red Crescent, and the Amahoro Coalition, Sheikha Fatima initiated a number of new healthcare, economic, and environmental projects to commemorate the event. The implementation includes an initiative that offers training in agriculture and food production, as well as a midwifery training program that is expected to help 76,000 women and children by 2026. To assist refugee women in finding contemporary jobs, the foundation will also launch technology training initiatives.We support refugee women and will keep collaborating with them to overcome obstacles,” Sheikha Fatima declared. “I have faith in their capacity to overcome obstacles, provide opportunities, and support sustainable growth. By empowering a refugee woman, we also empower her family and make human and dignified investments in future generations.”
