The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani) has announced the establishment of a new commerce corridor between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Emirate of Sharjah, in collaboration with Gulftainer. This measure demonstrates the strength of business connections with the UAE and aims to improve the efficiency of logistical connectivity between the two countries. The new corridor acts as an integrated logistical route that connects Dammam to Sharjah. It offers multimodal transportation solutions, encompassing sea and land transport, resulting in speedier cross-border shipping and increased operational efficiency. The initiative also improves integration between ports and logistics centers in the Kingdom, resulting in better coordination in controlling the flow of commodities.

The corridor adds value to the logistics sector by reducing transit times, enhancing shipment flow, and increasing the efficiency of cross-market products distribution. It also improves transportation service reliability, promoting supply chain stability and sustainability in the face of rapidly changing global issues. Economically, the project is projected to increase trade between Saudi Arabia and the UAE, enhance regional trade growth, and allow for faster and more efficient delivery of goods to target markets. It will also strengthen supply chain resilience and increase the logistics sector’s ability to react to global changes. This program is consistent with Mawani’s aspirations to establish Saudi Arabia as a worldwide logistics hub that connects three continents, as outlined in the National Transport and Logistics Strategy.
