The Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP) has introduced new services that allow UAE citizens to replace and renew their Emirates ID cards in a single step. The initiative simplifies the process, aligning it with UAE passport services where the applicant’s age automatically determines the card’s validity. This rollout comes under the second phase of the Zero Bureaucracy Programme, aimed at streamlining procedures and enhancing government services.
According to ICP, the updated service is designed to eliminate unnecessary bureaucracy, modernize its smart service system, and shorten customer journeys. By doing so, it aims to enhance service accessibility, meet public expectations, and improve the UAE’s global ranking in government efficiency.
Under the new system, citizens can complete the replacement or renewal of their Emirates ID by simply submitting an application and paying the fees, removing the need for multiple steps. Fields such as personal address have been eliminated, while redundant data is automatically retrieved from the database. The new application form is also consolidated into a single page, making the process quicker and more user-friendly.
