As part of its plan to improve quality of life and create thriving communities, the Department of Municipalities and Transport announced the opening of 16 new parks in Abu Dhabi’s Al Shamkha neighborhood.

The parks have large green areas with eight fitness centers, twenty-five sports fields, and twenty-six kid-friendly play areas. They also have walking routes and seating areas to encourage people of all ages to have active and healthy lives.
According to Eng. Khalifa Abdullah Al Qamzi, Head of the Projects Implementation Section, “We were eager to carefully design these parks in line with our goal of enhancing the quality of life of residents by providing a safe and enjoyable environment for relaxation, social interaction, and outdoor activities.

We want these recreational spaces to be essential hubs for fostering community ties, promoting dialogue, and solidifying a feeling of belonging,” he continued. The capital’s newest public areas to open this year are the parks.

As part of its efforts to create integrated residential neighborhoods where residents enjoy the highest levels of health and living standards in the emirate, the Department of Municipalities and Transport previously announced the opening of new parks in several parts of the capital, including Al Falah and Mohammed Bin Zayed City.
