The UAE was recognised by the League of Arab States for its contributions to the program that the League, in collaboration with the European Union, organised to stop the illegal spread of light and small arms throughout Arab nations.
The UAE’s participation in the “Conference on Combating the Illicit Trade in, and Proliferation of Small Arms and Light Weapons,” which was held at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo, came to an end with this recognition.
Mohamed Suhail Al Neyadi, head of the UAE delegation and Director-General of the Weapons and Hazardous Substances Office of the Supreme Council for National Security, accepted the award.
The conference covered several topics, including the assessment of the second phase of the EU and Arab League program aimed at preventing the proliferation and illicit trafficking of light and small arms, the difficulties encountered in this phase, the project’s prospects going forward, and international controls on the transfer of small arms, such as border control and measures to stop the flow of illegal weapons by locating and obstructing their sources.
