Shaijil Hussain, a Dubai restaurant owner, was a close friend of the late Dr. CJ Roy for many years. They often got together to talk about a lot of things, like family and business. Shaijil said on Friday that he was surprised when he first learned of the multimillionaire’s death. He told Khaleej Times, “I didn’t believe it.” “I went right away to his place in Emirates Hills. That’s when I knew the sad news was true.
He stated he saw Dr. Roy’s wife and kids, who were quite upset, and promised them that they would get any help they needed before they left for Bangalore, India. The death of Dr. Roy on Friday sent shockwaves across the business world in India and the UAE. He died while an income tax raid was going on at his office. Indian news outlets are saying that he killed himself, although investigations are still going on. A family acquaintance told Khaleej Times that the business owner went back to his office and a gunshot was heard.
Faizal Malabar had known Dr. Roy for more than ten years, but they only became close friends in the last year or so. “I had known him socially for a few years,” he stated. “But we didn’t start talking more until he opened his property in Dubai, and that’s when we became close.
