The UAE Cabinet Affairs Minister, Mohammad Al Gergawi, reiterated that the 1 Billion Followers Summit is the biggest annual gathering of content creators worldwide and a crucial venue for developing the content economy. Al Gergawi emphasized that when its audience grew from 1 billion in its first edition to 3.5 billion in its fourth, it meant increased responsibility and the ability to effect change. Al Gergawi gave the 1 Billion Followers Summit 2026’s introductory speech.
“We will celebrate content throughout the three days of the summit, not just as an industry, but as a driving force capable of improving lives,” Al Gergawi declared. Al Gergawi emphasized how the content sector is changing and now influences public opinion, priorities, and the future. These days, content plays a crucial role in politics, the economy, and community development. Every day, more than 50 million films are created worldwide on only two of the several social media platforms that are currently in use. People spend five hours a day on social media and are exposed to over ten thousand media messages. He pointed out that producing material now entails producing meaning rather than just amusement. “We view content creators as creators of impact and change,” he continued, referring to the summit’s theme of “Content for Good.”
