16 elderly residents of an Indonesian retirement community perished in a fire on Sunday night, according to authorities. According to authorities on Monday, the fire in the one-story home in Manado, Indonesia’s North Sulawesi Province, began while the occupants were asleep.
According to the team on the ground, there are currently 16 fatalities, according to North Sulawesi police spokesperson Alamsyah Hasibuan. “Fifteen of them were burned to death, while one victim’s body remains intact. After locals reported the fire to emergency services, firefighters with six trucks needed more than two hours to put it out, according to officials.
